In 2001 a group of leading citizens of Charleston, South Carolina, formed an organization for cultural, educational, and philanthropic purposes to serve the people of Charleston and the Southeast. The Organization was incorporated as a not for profit corporation in the state of South Carolina in December 2001 and is governed by a Board of Governors. This board has engaged a professional management team charged to achieve the mission and objectives of the organization.

Mission

The mission of Atlantic Southeast Ballet, Inc. is to enrich the quality of life for the citizens of South Carolina and the Southeast by producing classical ballet performances, providing educational and humanitarian services, while managing all programs within the parameters of financial viability. The purpose is to promote an appreciation and understanding of the art of classical ballet through performance, education, and preservation theatrical performances of traditional and contemporary classical ballets of the 19th and 20th centuries and new works by choreographers working in the classical idiom.
